Joel’s Place AmeriCorps Summer of Service, JPSOS for short, engages 30 youth between the ages of 16 to 25 in service during the summer months and recognizes the potential of youth to identify issues, develop projects, and provide lasting benefits to our community through volunteer service.

Our Members complete either 300 or 450 hours of community service each and touch hundreds of lives in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.

One of the most important issues we tackle is hunger. JPSOS’08 members helped serve 13,035 meals to low income and at risk youth during the summer.

Our next Joel’s Place AmeriCorps Summer of Service is summer of 2009. Orientation and training start May 26, here in Fairbanks. Service starts June 8th and ends August 14, 2009.
